Breast Augmentation

Have you been considering breast augmentation?  There are many reasons women contemplate breast implants.  They are unhappy with a small breast size or want to replace volume lost after pregnancy, nursing and weight loss.  We will work with you to choose an implant that gives you the figure you’ve dreamed of or the figure you once had.

Can I come in for a consultation?

Yes.  All of our consultations are complimentary.  At your consultation you will meet our Patient Care Coordinator as well as the surgeon and the procedure will be explained in detail. You will be able to see before and after photos of the doctor’s patients.  You will have the opportunity to try different size implants and decide which size is right for you.  We ask that you bring a sports bra with you to try on the implants, as this simulates the look of the finished procedure.   We will help you determine the implant size that will best fit your frame and meet your expectations.  You will then be scheduled for a pre procedure physical which includes measurements and some testing will be performed to confirm you are a candidate for breast augmentation.

How will my surgery be performed?

At Glow Skin Revived we do all our breast augmentation under local tumescent anesthesia rather than general anesthesia.  This allows our patients to get the beautiful results of breast augmentation without the risks associated with general anesthesia.  The local anesthetic we use keeps the surgical area numb even after the procedure has been completed.  As a result you are more comfortable at the beginning of your recovery.  The surgery will take approximately two hours and you can go home shortly after the procedure is finished.  American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery accredited surgeon, Dr. Paul Gorman, will be skillfully performing your procedure.

What kind of implants will be used?

At Glow Skin Revived we use saline filled implants that come ranging from 100cc to 1000cc.  There are also three shapes of implants depending on the desired look: moderate profile that has a wider footprint with less projection, moderate plus profile with a moderate footprint and a moderate projection, and high profile with a smaller footprint and full projection.  These implants can be placed in two different places, under the breast tissue (on top of the muscle), or under the muscle.  All of these options will be discussed in your consultation and the choices that will give you the best outcome will be decided upon with your surgeon.

What will recovery be like? 

Due to the tumescent technique used by Dr. Gorman, the treatment area will be numb for some hours after surgery, making recovery more comfortable.  You must have someone to drive you home as the prescription medication you will take will make driving unsafe.  Our patients come in the day after surgery to have their dressings changed, after which they can shower.  Someone should be available to help you for the first 48 hours after the procedure. Immediately after breast augmentation your breasts may seem a little high, a little far apart, and a little firm.  As the tissues around the implant relax your breasts will come together and drop slightly.  A soft bra and a breast band are provided and are to be worn for the first two weeks after surgery, after which a regular bra may be worn.  Stitches will be removed 12-14 days after the procedure, when the incision has completely healed.  You may resume your normal routine 1 week after surgery and light exercise 2 weeks after surgery.
